Terms of the gift, in plain English

Who you’re buying from

Family Story Call is sold by its makers. By buying, you agree to these terms.

What you get

Each purchase sets up one private book for one storyteller, with:

• 12 sessions with an AI interviewer, each up to 25 minutes or about 8 answers, whichever comes first;
• a private book page with a chapter per session, in the storyteller’s own words, and the original recordings;
• chapters you can edit, print, or save as a PDF;
• a printable gift card with a QR code to the storyteller’s link.

It runs in a web browser on a phone or tablet. Nothing physical is shipped.

$49, paid once. There is no subscription and nothing renews.

Who to send it to

Only send the interview link to someone who would want to do this. Before anything is recorded, the interviewer says that it is an AI, explains that the conversation is recorded so the family can keep the stories, and asks the storyteller to agree. Nothing is recorded unless they tap Yes. They can skip any question or stop at any time.

Please don’t use it to record anyone without their knowledge, or on someone else’s behalf without their agreement.

The AI can get things wrong

Speech-to-text can mishear names, places and dates. The chapters are written by AI from what was said; where it isn’t sure, it marks the words [unclear] instead of guessing. Read the chapters before you print or share them. You can edit any chapter on the book page, and the original text is kept.

What it is not

Family Story Call keeps family stories. It isn’t therapy or counselling, and it isn’t medical, legal or financial advice. It makes no promise about anyone’s health, memory or wellbeing.

Your family’s stories

The recordings and chapters belong to your family. We use them only to run Family Story Call for you, as the privacy policy describes. Keep the book and interview links private: anyone holding one can get to the stories. You can delete everything from the book page at any time.

Keeping a copy

The book page can be printed or saved as a PDF whenever you like. We recommend keeping your own copy.

Limits

Family Story Call is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about it is limited to the amount you paid.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version in place when you bought applies to your purchase.
