What we keep, who can see it, and how to delete it
Last updated November 2, 2026
- We keep what the gift needs: your email from checkout, the names you type, the recordings, their transcripts and the chapters.
- Cloudflare processes and stores all of it. No other AI provider receives it.
- Anyone holding the private book link or the interview link can get to the stories.
- No ads, and we never sell any of it.
- Delete everything from the book page, at once.
What we collect
- Your email address, from checkout. Payments are handled by Stripe, which passes us the email address you gave at checkout. We use it only to help you when you write to us about your order, such as a lost link or a refund. We never see your card number.
- The names you type at setup: your name, the storyteller’s name, what you call them, and any topics you list to cover or leave alone.
- Voice recordings: each answer the storyteller gives, and the interviewer’s spoken questions. The microphone records only after they agree and tap Answer.
- Transcripts: the text of each answer, made from its recording.
- Chapters: the chapters written from those transcripts, and any edits you make to them.
We don’t ask for the storyteller’s email address, phone number or home address, and nobody needs an account.
Where it is processed and stored
Everything runs on Cloudflare. Turning speech into text, choosing the interviewer’s next question, speaking it aloud and writing the chapters all run on Cloudflare Workers AI. Text is stored in Cloudflare D1, a database, and recordings in Cloudflare R2, a file store.
No other AI provider receives your family’s recordings or words. Transcripts are not written to our logs.
Who can see it
There are no accounts. Two private links open a family’s stories:
- The book link (yours) shows the chapters, plays the recordings, and lets you edit chapters and delete everything.
- The interview link (the storyteller’s) lets them talk with the interviewer and add to the book.
Anyone holding either link can get to the stories, so share them only with people you’d trust with a house key. The links are long random codes with no names in them.
No ads, no selling
We don’t sell or rent anything about you or your family, we don’t show ads, and this site has no advertising trackers. We don’t use your family’s stories to train AI models.
Deleting
Delete everything on the book page removes your family’s chapters, transcripts, recordings, the names you typed and your checkout email from our live database and storage at once. It can’t be undone.
Cloudflare’s database keeps point-in-time recovery copies (called D1 Time Travel) so it can be restored after a failure. Deleted text can remain in those copies for up to 30 days, and then it is gone. Those copies cover the database only: recordings are removed from R2 storage straight away.
Stripe keeps its own record of the payment, which tax law requires. For anything else, such as removing your email without deleting the book, email us.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits to these pages. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and doesn’t fingerprint visitors. We see only totals, such as pages viewed, the site that referred you, country, browser and device type.
Campaign links
If you arrive from a link with campaign tags (the “utm” part of a web address), the page keeps those tags in your browser for this visit and passes them to checkout, so we know which video or post sent you. They’re cleared when you close the tab.
